Gianni Gilardi was born in Milan in 1947. He graduated in Mathematics with full marks in Pavia in 1970 and was full professor of Mathematical Analysis since 1980.
At the present time, he is professor emeritus at the University of Pavia (since 2019, after retirement in October 2017).
For almost 50 years, he was teaching in the University of Pavia, mainly (just 5 years in the Politecnico di Milano).
He has been the chairman of the Department of Mathematics of the University of Pavia in the period 1988-1994.
He has been the local responsible of a PhD school and of research grants for several years.
He gave several courses for ungraduated students, in PhD schools, in the Istituto Nazionale di Alta Matematica "F. Severi", and for teachers in Italy and Switzerland.
