My friends Betti, Elena, and Pier, i.e., the three colleagues of mine Professors Elisabetta Rocca, Elena Bonetti, and Pierluigi Colli, have dedicated a special session to my 65th birthday in the middle of the five day international workshop ADMAT2012 they had organized. Such a conference took place in Cortona, a wonderful town in Tuscany, namely, in the rooms of the so-called Palazzone, an ancient building belonging to the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa.
More than fifty scientists, mainly mathematicians, took part altogether in the conference (pic, pic), and nine of them delivered their lectures in the special session and expressed their frendship to me as old friends of mine. Also the chairmen Pavel Krejcí, Ulisse Stefanelli, and Philippe Laurençot (all of them friends of mine) have been very kind to me, as well as many participants.
The special session started with a very nice introduction by the organizers. Then, the talks followed. At the end, I tried to thank everybody, without succeeding very well because of too much emotion.
In the evening, during the social dinner of the conference, the organizers gave me a special gift, some bottles of a very good local wine with a nice letter containing douzens of signatures, and a cake with the birthday candles.
It has been a very impressing day for me: I tank the participants and I am very grateful to the organizers, the chairmen, and all the speakers for what they did!

Later on, at my home
Some weeks later, I invited the organizer at my home.
My wife prepared a wonderful dinner (see menu (Italian)) and we drank a bottle of the excellent Cortona wine that the participants to the conference gave me during the social dinner!
